Another Creepy Thought from Panama

Just when you thought it was safe to open your front door.....

...you are greeted by a sleeping female scorpion...a BIG one.

(Practical side note:  Bug spray -like Baygone- will kill scorpions, but so will heavy rocks dropped stratigically on top of them.  My husband used both.
But, a word to the wise: Scorpions run REALLY FAST.)

They say that if you leave your shoes outside, you should shake them out really well before putting them on since scorpions love to hide in just about every kind of crevass...

They say you should be careful when sticking
your hands behind your couch,
since scorpions like to hang out in tight spaces...

They say that if your house is not well-sealed, you should check your bed sheets every night before going to bed...

Sweet dreams... : )

Third World

I still haven't figured out why they call this place "a developing country".

Is it because you can't withdraw any money from the ATM on Mondays?

Or is it because the wireless Internet signal from the volcano isn't always reliable?

Is it due to the fact that the farmers have to spray their crops with pesticides by hand?

Or could it be that not all the beach resorts have sufficient roadside advertising?

I don't know about anyone else, but to me, "a developing country" doesn't have an ATM, wireless Internet or computers, for that matter, nor does it have the resources to purchase and distribute pesticides. And it certainly wouldn't have resorts of any kind.

Despite this unattractive title, I find Panama to be quite wonderful, as I intend to show with my future photos.
